Field Test - Quantum EXO 100

I have just returned from a “quick” trip to Aurukun….actually I originally went for the weekend, but due to various unforeseen circumstances ended staying for almost a fortnight. I actually had the pleasure of guiding our client, Peter Walker, for the 6 days.

We had an absolute blast, the fishing was awesome apart from the very last day when the tides went to you know what. But apart from that we has some very memorable sessions.

This little piece however is not about the fishing, BUT about a very special little baitcaster that my good friend, Keith Graham from Bransfords Tackle Shop has “loaned me”. It’s a Quantum EXO 100 and to say that I was impressed is an understatement!
Looks Great!....as light as a feather....and casts like a rocket!
Keith handed me this little reel in a box several weeks ago with the instructions to go “field test it” for his tackle shop.

Its been to Aurukun twice, the Johnstone river about 3 times and really had a severe work out.

Can I fault it – NOT ONE LITTLE BIT!

Love River barra!
It sits in the palm of your hand and being made of that new-fangled alloy is as light as a feather, well almost!

It casts like a rocket, even with the smaller lighter lures I use for jacks and sooties, with ease!

The drag is silky smooth, right out of the box and the whole thing “just feels so good to use”

Juvenile Queensland Grouper!
I have literally caught hundreds of barra, sooties, JP’s, flathead, salmon, black jew, spanish mackerel and a 2m river whaler off the sand – and this little reel did not miss a beat. That darn shark took my favourite Super Shad in grey ghost colour right at the water’s edge, but I guess I can’t blame the reel for the loss of the lure eh!

So Keith, there it is – this new reel IS as GOOD as they say it is!
I’ve included a couple of pics to prove it actually was with me up at the Archer River.

Regards, Les
